BPC-157 is the most talked-about recovery peptide and one of the clearest examples of a gap between hype and human evidence. It is a synthetic fragment derived from a protein found in gastric juice, studied heavily in rodents for healing across many tissue types. That animal literature is genuinely extensive, but it has not translated into the human clinical trials that would justify strong claims, which is why we grade it honestly rather than optimistically.

How BPC-157 works

The proposed mechanisms come almost entirely from animal and laboratory work. BPC-157 is reported to promote angiogenesis (new blood-vessel formation), modulate growth-factor and nitric-oxide pathways, and interact with the VEGF signaling system, which together could support tissue repair. These are plausible and consistently reported in preclinical models, but the pathways have not been confirmed in controlled human studies.
