Sermorelin was an FDA-approved drug, marketed as Geref, before the branded product was discontinued for commercial (not safety) reasons. Today it is prescribed and dispensed through compounding pharmacies, making it a prescription compound rather than an over-the-counter or research-only product. It is prohibited in sport under the WADA framework as a growth-hormone secretagogue.
